Horse Riding and Beach Trails on Koh Samui

๐ŸŽ A Unique Island Adventure

If you think Koh Samui is just about palm trees, resorts, and cocktails at sunset โ€” think again. One of the islandโ€™s most magical and unexpected experiences is horse riding along the beach, where turquoise waves meet the warm sand and jungle trails lead to hidden viewpoints.

I recently had the chance to explore this quieter side of Samui, and it turned out to be a highlight of my trip.

๐ŸŒด Where to Go: The Best Horse Riding Experience

I booked my ride through The Samui Horse Club, located near Maenam in the islandโ€™s north. The stable is tucked away just enough to feel secluded but is still easily accessible from most resorts.

The horses are well cared for, gentle, and suitable for all levels โ€” from complete beginners to experienced riders. The guides were knowledgeable and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel safe and easygoing.

๐Ÿพ The Ride: Jungle Trails to Beachfront Bliss

Our journey started with a short introduction and saddle-up at the stables, then we headed into the nearby coconut groves and jungle trails. It was quiet and peaceful โ€” just the sounds of nature and the rhythmic steps of the horses.

After about 20โ€“30 minutes, the trail opened up to a breathtaking beachfront stretch, where the horses trotted right along the shoreline. Riding with the wind in your face and the ocean just a few meters away is something straight out of a movie.

We even stopped for a few photos as the sun began to dip โ€” it was golden hour perfection.

๐Ÿ•’ Duration and Pricing

Most rides last 1 to 1.5 hours, and prices range from 1,500โ€“2,500 THB depending on the route and time of day. Sunset rides are especially popular, so itโ€™s best to book ahead.

๐Ÿงข What to Bring

  • Closed shoes or sneakers (no flip flops!)

  • Light, breathable clothing

  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

  • A phone or camera for photos (guides are happy to help snap a few)

๐ŸŒŸ Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a seasoned equestrian or a curious first-timer, horse riding in Koh Samui is a truly memorable way to connect with nature and see the island from a different perspective.

Itโ€™s calm, beautiful, and a bit adventurous โ€” just like Samui itself.
