Cross Country - A Fun Thrilling Event |
| "Cross Country" is a style of riding generally associated with the second day of a Three Day Event. Three Day Eventing is a particular kind of horse show that includes Dressage, Cross Country, and Show or Stadium Jumping. Competitors must train specifically for each day of the Three Day Event, and it is a testament to the skill, endurance, and flexibility of both rider and horse to be able to compete and win in each of the three styles of riding. |

USEF Equine Drugs & Medications Program |
| The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is the national governing body for equestrian sport and is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee. The USEF is responsible for enforcing the rules of 27 breeds and disciplines. Formerly this organization was known as the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA). The name may have changed, but the mission of its Equine Drugs and Medications Program has stayed the same since the program’s inception in 1970. |

Modernizing the System of Judging Hunters and Hunter Seat Equitation |
| I have been a judge of hunters, jumpers, and hunter seat equitation since 1980. When I received my large R status from the American Horse Shows Association in 1988, I was the youngest large R in my discipline. I have been serving the USEF, the USHJA, and the AQHA as a judge for the past twenty five years. In that time I have seen many changes to the sport in terms of rules, prize money, and who the most popular trainers are. But, I believe that the underlying principles of what makes a great horse and rider are unchanged. |
