Riding in Africa has been something we talked about for years but never did -- all those scary things like political unrest and violence, malaria bearing mosquitoes waiting to bite you, black mambas waiting to strike followed closely by charging lions or rhinos. Every year when the catalogues from the riding trip agents turned up in the mail, we read them and talked about going to Africa and then chickened out. Portugal’s Alentejo Coast Ride
We chose this ride in April 2008 because we had never been to Portugal and it was on the way to Spain. And we were very lucky. It was good choice. We rode at Herdade Pesseguiro on the coast of southwest Portugal, in the Alentejo province south of Lisbon and north of the Algarve.
